Binding of LPS and Chemokines to Neutrophils
Triggering Extracellular Killing
The binding of LPS released from
the gram-negative cell wall binds to toll-like receptor- 4 (TLR- 4), as well as the binding of chemokines such as interleukin-8 (IL-8) to their respective chemokine receptors on the surface
of neutrophils stimulates the neutrophils to release
proteases and toxic oxygen radicals for extracellular killing.
