Glossary

Fomites: anything that is able to carry or spread infections.  It can be any inanimate object or substance.
Gastroenteritis: inflammation of the stomach and intestines leading to diarrhea
High Grade Fever: a fever of >102 °
Intususseption: a rare intestinal blockage
Seroprevalence: testing blood serum to determine the number of people in a population infected with a specific disease
Transplacental: when a toxin or pathogen enters the placenta, allowing the fetus to acquire it
