Cytokine-Induced Proliferation and Differentiation of an Activated T8-Lymphocyte

Cytokines, such as IL-2 produced by activated T4-helper lymphocytes, binds to receptors on the activated T8-lymphocytes. This enables the activated T8-lymphocytes to proliferate and subsequently differentiate into effector cells called cytotoxic T-lymphocytes (CTLs). Some T8 lymphocytes also differentiate into T8-memory cells and T8-suppressor cells.
