GRADING POLICY:

Exam Percentage

Test1 15%
Test2 15%
Test3 15%
Test4 15%
Homework 20%
Final Exam 20%

TOTAL 100%
Your final grade for this course will be determined as follows:

Final Grade = .2(Homework Grade +  Final) + .15(Test 1 + Test 2 + Test 3 + Test 4)

The following scale will be used to establish letter grades.
A: 90 - 100
B: 80 - 89
C: 70 - 79
D: 60 - 69
F: Below 60

If you know in advance that you have to miss an exam, I will make arrangements for you to take a similar exam. If something unforeseen occurs that requires you to miss the day of the exam, email me at the address above, as soon as possible, but no later than 24 hours after the exam was started. Bring in documentation the day of your return to the math department secretary and I will ask the testing center to administer an equivalent exam. Do not just show up and tell me you missed the exam and expect a make-up because I will not give it to you. THERE ARE NO MAKE-UPS GIVEN WITHOUT A DOCUMENTED REASON.

Exam dates will be announced at least 1 week before the test. As a rule, I do not give unannounced exams unless I feel the assigned work is not being done.

Cheating results in an automatic 0 on the exam.

ATTENDANCE POLICY:

The general college policy is as follows: "Each student is expected to attend class regularly and punctually in order to derive maximum benefit from instruction and contribute to the general learning process in the classroom."

Instructors policy: Students are allowed to be absent or late up to 6 times per semester. This adds up to 20% of the semester. After that, I reserve the right drop your final grade by 1 complete letter grade. Use your absences and or latenesses carefully because no excuses will be accepted except for personal hospitalization. Lateness is defined as arriving later than the time class is scheduled to start, according to MY watch.  For an online class, this means you are expected to attend chat at least once a week.

COLLEGE WRITING POLICY:

The college recognizes that clear, correct, and concise use of language is a characteristic of an educated person. Therefore, whenever possible, faculty members in all disciplines should require written assignments in their courses in order to encourage effective writing by their students. Also, instructors should consider the quality of writing in determining a grade for a written assignment. Poor writing can be a sufficient cause for a failing grade on a paper and in, extreme cases, a failing grade in a course.

COLLEGE ACADEMIC HONESTY POLICY:

Academic honesty is expected of all students. Work submitted by students as their own shall be their own and materials taken from any other source must be clearly identified as such. Intentional falsification of data, plagiarism, "cribbing", copying from others in class, obtaining advance information about exams, and other violations of academic honesty are not acceptable.
