COURSE DESCRIPTION

Students will continue analysis, writing, and research principles from English 101- College Writing- through the interpretation of literature that represents diverse cultural backgrounds. Three- four response papers, reading checks, and one documented research essay. Written/objective final exam.

 

 

OBJECTIVES

In this course students will:

 

  1. identify and define class constructs (i.e. universal themes, American dream,

generalizations, etc) in assigned literature for use in writing and discussion

  1. identify common themes in multiple works of diverse genres and cultures
  2. evaluate and compare literary themes with personal experience
  3. apply the 5 stages of the writing process- brainstorming, planning, drafting, revising, editing- with attention to correct grammar and academic style- in 4 essays
  4. create a documented research essay using multiple electronic and conventional sources

In addition to participating actively in the learning process during each class period by coming prepared with required materials, you will be graded on the following:
