WEBT 143 - Final Project

Overview

There are more standards and technologies related to the internet and web design then just HTML, XHTML and CSS. For your final project you will be assigned a standard or technology to research. Your topic may be something standardized by the W3C or just a popular web technology that warrants some attention. You will be creating a standard compliant web site to share the information you discover with the class. Be prepared to answer questions and be the “class expert” on your assigned topic.

Details

Research your assigned topic

Once assigned your topic, you will be creating an informative, tutorial style web site on this topic. Your site should minimally answer the following questions,

You can start with a site like wikipedia but I will be looking for valid sources for your research. You should end up with a collection of links that can be shared on your site for more information and a sources page.

Design a site to inform your classmates of the topic

Your final site project should be created using XHTML and external CSS. The site should validate and be an example of the efficient semantic markup skills you have learned this semester. Minimally your site should contain three (3) XHTML pages and one (1) external CSS file linked to all pages for styles. Each page in the site should have similar structure and share common div tags or sections (i.e. a navigation bar)

Presentation

You will be presenting your topic/site to the class in a professional manner. Your presentation should inform the class about your topic and you should be prepared to answer technical questions about your topic.

The presentation is also your chance to show off your web site. It should be used as a visual aide during the presentation.

Grading

The final project is 25% of your grade. Take it seriously. You will be graded using the following rubric.
