**Areas of Academic Interests :**I have a Master's degree in Applied Mathematics from the University of Calcutta and a Ph.D. degree in Mathematics (area of research : Boundary Element Method) from Cornell University. I was an Assistant Professor of Mathematics from 1982 to 1989 at the Pennsylvania State University. I was a visiting Professor at the University of Florida in the year 1990-91.I am very interested in the World Wide Web and its use in teaching and advancement of learning. I am currently developing several Microsoft Windows- based word processing softwares in my native language

**Bengali**. I was from 2000 to 2002 also the web coordinator for our Greater Baltimore area Bengali organization**Prantik**. From 2002 to 2003 I was the editor of the newsletter Purbasha for Prantik. From 2004 to 2005 I was the Secretary of the organization. From 2012 to 2014 I was the Joint Treasurer and currently also help in the publication of the annual "Sharadiya Sankhya" and do other works for Prantik.For the last forty years I have been a member of

**The Planetary Society**.From 1992 to 2006 I organized and conducted a mathematics competition here at the Catonsville campus of the Community College of Baltimore County (CCBC) with cash prizes. This

**Catonsville Mathematics Competition**(renamed CCBC Math Contest) was open to all high school students (juniors and seniors only) and undergraduates (less than 60 credits earned) in the Central Maryland area.

At present I am organizing (with others) the CCBC Math Competition and the Mathematics Seminars.

For the last three years I have been a member of the t-STEM committee for Mathematics curricular alignment working with members for UMBC and other community colleges.

I am also strongly involved in the Math Center run by the CCBC-Catonsville Mathematics department.
