Spring of 2007, the English department chair has appointed a committee to study the possible models and determine one or more that we will pilot.

Spring of 2007, a longitudinal study of students taking ENG 051 and 052 in recent years will be conducted to see how the data compare with the 1993 study and to see how the success rates of students placed in ENG 052 compare with those placed in ENG 051.

August 2007, Accelerated Learning Committee will recomend to department that we conduct a pilot of accelerated learning in fall 2008.

Fall of 2007, a small-scale "pilot of the pilot" will be conducted .

January 2008,  the team of five "pilot of the pilot" instructors make recommendations to Accelerated Learning Committee for structure of pilot.  Committee decides on a model for the pilot. 

Fall of 2008, the pilot will be conducted and data collected during fall 2008 and spring 2009.  If additional piloting is needed, it will be conducted during fall 2009.

Following completion of the pilot, the department will evaluate the pilot program and decide whether to implement an “accelerated learning” approach to developmental writing, to study the concept further, or to discontinue consideration of such an approach.
